The technology of Microsoft allows users to share protected content (music, games, videos), PCs and other devices (Between devices).

Nokia will license Microsoft PlayReady Digital Rights Management (DRM) technology, and will build into S60's Software.

Nokia's S60 software is use Symbian's Operating System, built on UK-based mobile phone.

Senior analyst at consultancy CCS Insight, Geoff Blaber say that "It is in both (companies) interest that there is compatibility between the two and content can flow between devices".

They has signed first co-operation agreement in 2005, their agreement is put Windows Media Player in Nokia phones.

While cellphone prices fall, Microsoft is looking new revenue from the mobile space, at the same time handset vendors are looking for new revenue from potentially lucrative software operations.

Nokia said in June, it would reshape its whole organisation to better focus on software and services. It expects many S60 and its lower-tier Series 40 phones, which are also included in the deal, using PlayReady technology to hit the market in 2008.

"This takes it to a huge portfolio of Nokia devices," Geoff Blaber said. "The deal makes perfect sense for Nokia. There isn't so comprehensive a DRM solution available for mobile space."

TWENTY DOLLARS INDUSTRY

The companies said they expect the deal to widen the entertainment offering on cell phones.

According of firm Informa that Entertainment services—games, music, TV, adult content and gambling—would grow to $38 billion by 2011 from around $18.8 billion in 2006.

Music has been the main driver for mobile entertainment so far, the breakthrough of mobile television broadcasts is expected to give the market a new boost.

Chadd Knowlton, General manager for content access and protection at Microsoft "This is a new thing and developing at a rapid clip. Can it get better and move to the mainstream? Absolutely. Nokia and Microsoft, being large influential companies, are trying to push the ball forward," told Reuters.

"Mobile television, that's going to be much more mainstream than today's entertainment features," Chadd Knowlton said. "We would also work together to enhance and simplify consumer access to digital content using mobile devices" Microsoft and Nokia said.

"This partnership will enable a very broad range of content to be available for consumers," said Sebastian Nystrom, a director at Nokia's technology unit.

Nokia is widely expected to launch an online music and mobile content store, a rival to Apple's iTunes, in coming months, using technology gained from last year's acquisition of U.S. digital music distributor Loudeye.

Nystrom declined to comment on the possible impact the Microsoft deal could have on services built on the Loudeye acquisition, but said: "Overall, PlayReady will be the key component in offering such services to consumers."

Security Patch for IPhone

Apple releases security patch for iPhone, the purpose of iPhone's software is disallowd hackers to tak control of the multimedia cell phone to spread spam or steal data.

The iPhone hijacking vulnerability was only theoretical, there were no reports of criminals taking advantage of the glitch.

If iPhone connected to computers or internet, this patch are more help.

a combination cell phone, iPod player and wireless Web gadget - quickly became a popular research target after its June 29 launch. Its first-ever software update came just two days before analysts at Independent Security Evaluators were set to discuss the iPhone's hijacking hole at a hackers convention in Las Vegas.

On wednesday Jennifer Bowcock say "One of the great things about iPhone is that we can easily deliver software updates and bug fixes through iTunes when necessary,"

Also the consumer's complaints are about the iPhone's battery.

Chicago attorney Larry Drury filed a class-action lawsuit last week against Apple and the iPhone's exclusive U.S. carrier, AT&T Corp., alleging the companies failed to properly disclose the associated replacement costs and limited life of the gadget's battery.

In a Phone interview Drury say "The public is entitled to know what they're getting for the money that they spent,".

The lawsuit, which names Chicago-area resident Jose Trujillo as the plaintiff, was filed in the Circuit Court of Cook County in Illinois.

"The costs are too expensive" Thats content of The New York consumer Protection board letter. They complained that the battery replacement costs are too expensive. In the July 17 letter, the state agency asked Apple to improve its iPhone return policy and change the battery design so it can replaced by the user instead of requiring Apple repair service for a new battery and paying extra for a loaner unit in the interim.

Jennifer Bowcock and Fletcher Cook declined to comment on the iPhone complaints, citing company policies against discussing pending litigation matters.

iPhone Demand Continues

iPhone SmartphoneChangeWave claiming up to 16 percent of those planning to buy a mobile in the next six months will buy an iPhone, that mean Apple's iPhone seems set to disrupt the mobile phone industry.

Mobile phone survey was conducted among 3,003 members of the ChangeWave Alliance last month.

16 percent of the survey results in the sample group who plan to buy a mobile phone will buy an iPhone, the researchers say "catapulting Apple ahead of all other manufacturers,", describing that company's move into the mobile market as causing a "virtual upheaval" in the industry.

The research report say "Although iPhone sales are still in their nascent stages, the effects on phone manufacturers are already beginning to take shape -- and no company is bearing the brunt of this more than Motorola,".

A report from analyst firm, IDC, shores up the ChangeWave claims.

Mobile phone sales rose 6.9 percent sequentially to 272.7 million units worldwide in the second quarter 2007, IDC explained.

While Motorola retains the largest market share (about 31 percent), the company has lost two percentage points -- while Apple has already picked-up one percent of the mobile market according to ChangeWave.

Research indicates that Samsung beat Motorola for the number two spot in global market share after four years of stable rankings -- IDC reports --.

iPhone consumer Surveys by ChangeWave

Tobin Smith say "There's no doubt about it, consumers are embracing the iPhone. And judging by the numbers, they will continue embracing it,", "The ascendance of the iPhone is going to be a game-changer for both mobile phone manufacturers and mobile service providers."

Director of worldwide mobile device research at IDC, Shiv K. Bakhshi say that "While the shift in the industry vendor rankings is certainly of importance, perhaps, the big story of the quarter was Apple's debut as a mobile phone vendor with its launch of the iPhone," .

"Even though limited in the number of units shipped, the iPhone is likely to have a disproportionately large impact on the industry. For one, it has pushed the envelope on industrial design and user interfaces for all vendors. For another, it could forever alter the structural relationship between device vendors and mobile operators who have traditionally controlled the mobile environment, especially in the U.S".

"Equally important, the unparalleled hype surrounding the iPhone could lift mobile devices out of a utilitarian frame of reference and place them squarely in the fashion frame of reference, potentially raising average selling prices for the entire industry. For the present, however, it seems at least to have raised the profile for all converged mobile devices," the IDC analyst explained".

The survey of ChangeWave also asked consumers how satisfied they were with their current phone, and found the iPhone registering the highest satisfaction levels of any device. An extraordinary 77 percent of iPhone owners said they were "Very Satisfied" with their device. The RIM Blackberry also received a relatively high rating, with one-in-two owners reporting they were "Very Satisfied."

At the other end of the spectrum, just 36 percent of Motorola owners, 34 percent of Palm owners and 29 percent of Sony/Ericsson owners reported that they were "Very Satisfied" with their phones.

Apple's exclusive deal with AT&T seems likely to erode the market share of other mobile networks -- The ChangeWave survey --. 30 percent of survey respondents who said they plan to switch networks in the coming months plan to move to AT&T.

ChangeWave Alliance is a network of over 10,000 highly qualified business, technology, and medical professionals in leading companies of select industries.
